Citrus Bowl

We got back to McKinney Saturday night.  We quickly unpacked, organized, and repacked.  The kiddos stayed with Gary and Marla (Tab's dad and step-mom).  Tab and I left super bright and early on Tuesday morning for the Buffalo Wild Wings Citrus Bowl in Orlando, Florida.

We arrived in Orlando just in time for a little Starbucks (which just HAPPENED to be the exact location the kiddos and I were stuck in the airport HOURS and HOURS back in May but more on that later).

We checked into our hotel, grabbed a yummy kid-free lunch, and then had a delicious dinner with the entire crew and their families.  We had a fabulous meal...shrimp cocktail, sushi, fish, the most delicious mashed potatoes, and the best key lime pie!  It was so good!

Wednesday morning the crew had a big meeting.  I enjoyed taking my time getting ready, reading, and watching tv! Then we had the Bowl Luncheon.  I didn't know what to expect and it was a blast!  All the players from both teams were there.  The bands, the cheerleaders, head coaches, and tons of fans were present!  If you ever travel to your team's bowl game, you have to see if they're having a lunch with the teams.  So worth it!

There was a Mizzou side.  (I missed the cheerleaders and mascot in the picture.)

The center stage

And...the Minnesota side.  :)

The Dallas guys...Randy, Anthony, and Tab.

This was probably my favorite "bowl" festivity.  The energy was just fun.  They announced the teams and the bands were so loud.  Fans were screaming.  It was just a fun environment!  They also had a little "Minute to Win It" segment where three guys from each team competed.  Seeing a huge offesive lineman shake his tush trying to get ping pong balls out of the tissue box tied around his waist was hilarious!!

We had a free afternoon!!  Our plan was to ring in the New Year at Universal Studios, but word on the street was the theme parks were out of control crowded!  We decided we didn't want any part of that!

We chose a couple's massage and a coffee date instead. :)

Then we met up with almost everyone else for another yummy dinner.

We rang in the New Year with everyone in the Hospitality Suite.  Playing games, relaxing, and watching football is my New Year's Eve love language.  :)

Thursday was GAME DAY!!  Tab and the referee, Alan, on his crew this year AND for the bowl game.  He has had a GREAT year with this guy!

OOh!!!  I took pictures of the boys in the locker room.  hahahaha!  Everyone was dressed.

The entire crew working the game.

Me and the cute umpire :)

The wives behind the scenes all posed with the single guys.

ALL of us

My new friend, Linda, and I sporting our freebie Buffalo Wild Wing glasses.  hahaha!

We rode with the guys so we had LOTS of time before the game started.  This is what we did to kill some time.

I took this picture of all those mascots for my kiddos.  They loved it!

We ended the night in the Hospitality Suite watching...you guessed it...MORE football!  We ordered pizza and all hung out.

The next morning we headed home.  I had to take a picture of the actual location the kiddos and I were in the airport back in May for SO LONG!!!  In case you missed it, back in May we went to Disney World.  Tab came back early for work.  The kiddos and I tried to come back about six hours after him.  Because of bad weather in Dallas, our flight continued to get delayed (think stuck in the airport with your three kids for 9 hours!!) and finally was cancelled.  I blogged all about it HERE.

It was the perfect little getaway supporting my man!!  When we got back to pick up the kiddos, two-thirds were excited to see us.  The other cried and cried because he wanted to stay with M.  :)  Thank you M and G for watching our kiddos!!  They clearly enjoyed themselves!  hahaha!

Bowl experiences are so much fun! We are typically at a bowl for a week, so it's a long time in a hotel with the girls, but there's always so much to do and they keep us busy with the luncheons and dinners! Plus, it's always fun to ride the team bus with police escorts! I've told DJ that as soon we'll be leaving the kids at home for our next bowl trip!

I love football and that seriously looks like so much fun! I think I need to go to a bowl game some time, even if my team isn't playing :) Thanks for sharing and Happy New Year Erika!
