Top Three-Baby Names

It's back!!!  The GIRL edition of our BABY NAME GAME!!  In case you missed it, last week we all played the Baby Name Game.  I enjoyed it SO much!!  You can read it here.  You know the game where you name your unborn children....even if you're thirteen years old or seventy-seven??  It's just a fun game that girls of ALL ages seem to play.  And...from the responses last week my hubby is not the only one who despises that game!  hahaha!

Again...just to be clear. :)

I must tell you how we named our sweet girl.  Tab and I found out we were having a girl and had THE HARDEST TIME coming up with the perfect name.  My mom and my father-in-law both have "Lee" as their middle name.  I kept thinking it'd be so cute to use something with "lee" or "ley" or "ly" at the end.  I was super stuck on that ending sound.  These were some of my faves...

Brinley
Whitlee
Haisley

Tab and I had the hardest time finding a name we both loved and agreed on.  We'd talked about how we both loved the southern two-name thing, but again...finding two names to agree on wasn't easy!  We were driving down the road and we passed an "Ebby Halliday" sign (who's a realtor in Texas).  Tab jokingly said, "Maybe we should name her Ebby?".  The more we said it.  The more we liked it.  We added "Lee" and loved it even more!  We went from NO name to "Ebby Lee" in probably five minutes.  We love it and think it fits her perfectly.  :)

Top Baby Girl Names of 2014:
Sophia
Emma
Olivia

How many of you after watching Rachel on Friends name her baby, "Emma Grace", thought you'd for sure name your daughter, "Emma Grace"??  I did!!!  Random fact:  The flower girl in our wedding was Emma Grace.  :)

If I was going to play this game today, my list would look very different!  This is my list today...

Mallie-If Bowen would have been a girl, I'm 99% positive this would have been the name.

Pippen-We have a friend named "Pippen" at the gym and I absolutely love it!!

Britton/Britain/Brittyn-I have no idea how I'd spell that one, but I think it's adorable.  Just to clarify, I'd name her "Britton Blair".  So cute, huh?

Teagan

Tatum

Channing-I know I listed, "Tatum" above.  hahahaha!  I know a little girl named, "Channing".  Love it!

Those are my very favorites!!  Now it's your turn!  Please leave a comment telling me what your daughters name is AND if you had a baby girl right now...what would you name her??  I'm hoping we help some preggo mamas out there.  :)  Can't wait to hear your suggestions!  Thanks, ladies!

Also, don't forget we're sharing our goals/bucket lists tomorrow!!

Love this Erika!! My niece (who is like my daughter) is named Emma Kay. We were looking for a name that went with Kay after my sister and mom, and Emma fit the bill. If I had a baby girl right now, I would name her Clara Elihu (like Claire but with ah at the end :)) Elihu (Pronounced Ella-yhoo) is one of Job's friends in the bible. I open love a name that has meaning to it. Good luck to all you mamas to be out there!

I love this game! I didn't realize that was how Ebby Lee got her name! So sweet!!!

Are you sure you aren't pregnant? God works in mysterious ways lol! I have a daughter Mary Copeland which is a family name but if I had another one I like the name Paige, Tallulah or Isabel. My name is Brantlee which I didn't like as a child but now I love! Miss South Carolina 1970 was Brantlee Price and my Mama loved the name.

She is such an Ebby Lee! I'm so glad you didn't name her Haisley...she is an Ebby :).

I seriously always wondered if that was how Ebby Lee got her name. Am I crazy that I thought that? (Hahaha!) Kathryn

My daughter is Anna Claire, love the double name...so southern! LOVE Ebby Lee :-). My last baby was going to be Spencer Elise, but we were blessed with a William Barrett instead! (Goes by Barrett) I could play this game with you ALL day! LOVE your blog!

I mentioned last week that we plan to stick with initials MMM for our kids and that started because of my long love for the name Madeline Marie. Marie after a aunt who passed away before I was born and Madeline just because we love it! That is top pick for a girl. If we have more girls: Meredith or Molly are favorites :-)

I named my daughter Julia Elisabeth. Julia was inspired by Julia Child (she didn't learn to cook until she was 40!!!). I gave birth to Julia at 41 and loved the inspiration that it is never too late to profoundly change your life. Elisabeth is my first name. Our last name is Foley so her initials spell out 'Jef' which is a way of honoring my husband whose name is Jeff. If I were to have another girl I like Katherine (but would call her Kat).Emma is actually a favorite too :)

Erika Slaughter said...

I love the double name thing too!! And Tab's top boy name was Barrett!! In my super small town that was a family's last name and I thought it'd be weird bc our town was so small to use it? Thank you for sharing! :)

Erika Slaughter said...

I love the MMM!! All of those girl names are precious!

I used to nanny for a Lexi Mae...love the name ever since!

I absolutely love this game! I love hearing what other people name their kids too. I'm such a girly, girl! We just found out we are having another boy but we would have named baby #2 Larkin or Kinsington (yes, a total copy from Kensingston Shull:) if a girl. We got our first son's name, Donovan, from the credits on Scrubs. I think it's kind of popular now though? My husband and I have the hardest time agreeing! I wanted Hans or Elias and he wanted Karl. My husband moved here from Sweden, so we tried picking a Swedish name but couldn't agree. I did learn NOT to tell anyone our choices! It makes it even more difficult to choose. Thanks for the fun game!

I love to talk about names with people because I think it gives you such of a glimpse if their personality. For girls, my favorite names are Caroline, Blair, and Juliana. I also like last names, like Greer, Campbell and Leighton, as girls' names too.

My daughter's name is Quinn. We had THE hardest time naming her. Coming up with Ryan for her twin brother was easy but we couldn't seem to decide on a girl's name. I had always loved the name Quinn but was worried that I would offend a childhood friend who named her daughter that just a year before. So after we couldn't decide on anything else, I messaged her for permission, ha! Other names I love: Annie, Charlotte Anne, Shea, Renee, Wesley Ann, Blakely, Natalie..

My daughter's name is Juliet Evelyn. When I found out I was having a girl I knew right away Evelyn would be her middle name. At 8 months pregnant when I finally decided on her name. Her name is a love story....Juliet(famous love story) and Evelyn(is my great grandmas name. My great grandparents were married for over 50 years. When she got sick my Great Grandfather refuse to put her in a resting home and he took care of her tell she past away. ) I was was e with my daughter on Feb. 8, 2008. I was 6 days over due when she was born. (Valentine's Day), She born at home on the bathroom floor, just her and I . I was the hospital all day..but the nurse didn't do her job right...no contraception machine..... and she was very mean. Sent me home saying I would be back in a few hours. My daughter name and her birthday are all about Love. The feeling of God presence while I was alone givng north to my daughter was overwhelming (in a good way). I was scared...I was calm.
Sorry, I didn't mean for this to be song long.
If /When good bless me with another girl, I would mame her

I love playing the "Baby Name" game especially the girl version since I have two boys. If we had girls our two top names were Brooklyn Micaela (my hubby loves this name) and Eden Brielle ( my favorite name). Our boys names are Gavin Liam and Collin Maddox. My husband is British so we decided to go with Britsh names.

Megan Ball said...

This is such a fun topic! We have an Emerson Kate. We thought we were being super original. Then everyone started using Emerson. But we like the southern 2 name thing too, so we call her Emmy Kate. It totally fits her spunky personality. :)

Cheri said...

It is funny the names you come up with you are pregnant and then names you would have chosen years later. We have 3 girls, Jessica Michelle, Betsy Kathryn and Laura Elizabeth and I liked the names when we chose them but I have heard of so many pretty ones over the years that I would have changed their names 10 different times. Now we are on to grandchildren names.

Queen In Between said...

My daughters are Jordan and Carly Jo...love them both but when I was pregnant with CJ I really wanted to name her Olivia and call her Livy Jo...her initials would have been OJ and Keith was not buying it. I picked Jordan's name after watching the movie Cocktail...still love it as much today as I did 24 years ago!

Anna said...

I've been holding onto the name Everly for a girl for many years and still hoping to one day name my daughter that.

Hi Erika. On the topic of names you and my cousin both spell your names the same. Usually it's Erica. I know that wasn't your doing of course. :)

I don't have kids but I have always been partial to Gabrielle (Gabby or Bri for short) or Danielle (Dani) or Isabella (izzy or Bella).

JustinMelanie Butler said...

Love this!! We had picked the name Ava Grace before we were even married but found out if my cousin's baby is a girl she is using it so my top right now is Kendallyn. I also like Harper and Savannah.

Kim said...

I love these baby name posts! My 21 month old is Kinley Madison. Kinley came from one of my favorite students over the last 14 years of working with kids, and Madison I just loved. We are expecting another little girl in about 8 weeks. Her name will be Macie Claire. Macie is a random suggestion from my sister that I happened to really like, and Claire is my middle name.

I just had a baby girl 9 weeks ago, and her name is Hadley Olivia. I came up with the name Hadley five years ago before I had ever heard anyone using it, but now it is more popular. Darn! Our 2 year old daughter is Claire Elizabeth. If Hadley had been a boy, her (his?) name would have been Bowen Tyler.

April Parrish said...

Such a fun game.
My daughters are Madison Elizabeth and Bailey Caroline.
If I had another girl I would love to name her June. My Dad passed away 4 years ago and his nickname was JuneBug.

At 10 months of marriage all I dream about is baby names!
For a baby girl we love Sarah Kensington (Thank you Mix & Match Mama) or Graceleigh Elizabeth. Hopefully we'll get to use both at some point :)

Kim Taylor said...

My daughters are Kelsey Marie and Taylor Erin. My best friend's niece is Kelsey and when she was born in 1982, I said that if I ever have a girl, she would be a Kelsey! So in 1989 I got my wish! With Taylor, I had just always loved that name and knew if I had another girl, she would be a Taylor. I really wanted Taylor Nichole but her initials would have been TNA and my ex husband was having NO part of that! Kids are cruel! So we decided on Erin and in 1992 I got my sweet Taylor Erin! Oddly enough, when I divorced and met the now Love of My Life...his last name is Taylor! So needless to say that has been a fun little item in our family for the last 17 years! She is fondly nicknamed Taylor Taylor....or Tay Tay for short! HA!

My two girls are Maddie Ruth and Sara Whitt. My son is Kingston. All family names, like good southerners :) I wanted to name our last daughter Afton but my husband was a definite "NO".

Molly Katherine "Molly Kate"

I do love the name Emma-I know it is so popular but it is such a pretty name.

Love Ebby Lee! My daughter is Parker Rashea. Rashea is a family name and we just loved Parker. Others we love are Marley, Ford, Lawson, Mila, Etta, Rhys, Penelope and Crew. We tend to like more masculine names although there are a few girly names in the mix. I just need to convince my husband that we need another first!

Anonymous said...

We will likely go with a traditional name as my husband is a 4th and our son will be a 5th with the same very traditional name.

I am hooked on the name Vivianne Noelle for a Christmas baby girl!

I also really like Jacqueline, which is my husbands grandmothers name.

Jennifer Haag said...

When my children were born the only restriction their father had is that their name end with a in, on or an. So, I have a Keirstin and Mason. I love the name Brooklyn and Halle! I volunteer in the 2's room at our church and have seen some very unusual names :) I always clarify with the parents when I have a new child how to pronounce their name :)

The Bryan Family said...

all my children have C names, so when we found out our littlest was a girl we had the hardest time picking out a girl name, but knew it would be a C name. We really liked the boy names as girls. We were stuck on Charlee for awhile (my grandpa was Charles and last name was Lee). But decided to name our daughter

Codi JoAnn
(Josephine is one grandma and Ann is the other so we combined them). We just liked Codi.

If we had another girl she would probably be Caroline, Claire, or Carly.

If my fiance and I ever have a girl, her name will be Aria Marie. It's a character on Pretty Little Liars and I just love the name.

My 10 month old is Charlotte Faith.
She is named after the city of Charlotte, NC because we got engaged there and because she is our rainbow child we put the name faith with Charlotte and loved it!
If we were to have another we are going to name her Riley Hope.

I also love the names
Payton
Aubrey
Sofia
Callie
Haley

I agree!! We almost never reached an agreement on my daughters name. Girl names can be hard. We knew Rae would be her middle name but a first was killing us. We FINALLY agreed on Alexis Rae and she goes by Lexi Rae.

My daughter's name is Sadie Isabella but we call her Sadie Belle and have since before she was born! (I love the 2 name thing too ;)
If we have another girl, my top names right now are Everly Grace or Gracyn Kate!

My 7yr old daughter is named Clara May. Clara was a name we just loved out of a baby name book and then later found out it was a family name on my mom's side. Also... I'm a huge Nutcracker fan so I've always loved the name Clara. My hubby researched his family on Ancestry.com and found that "May" was his great-grandmother's maiden name. The two just sounded perfect together and that is how we got our "Clara May". We just call her Clara... unless I'm getting on her about something! Haha!

When I was younger I wanted a little girl with the same initials as me, so I like Veronica LeOta (would call her Roni) or Victoria Lynn.
I have always loved the name Savannah because the town holds a special place in my heart :)
Others I like are Kaia and Harper.
Still praying my husband will change his mind on having a second child :)

I love this post! So fun! And I love your blog! First time commenter right here! ;-)

My 2 year old daughter's name is Annie Jane. I love the double name and that is what she goes by! I had another girl 2 months ago and we were debating between Violet and Molly. We ended up going with Molly Suzanne and we occasionally call her Molly Sue. :-) all my friends were asking me if I was gonna do the double name again and I was a little worried about it being over done or too matchy matchy...so I chose something that can go either way! We will see which sticks! If you had another girl...would you do a double name??

Have a wonderful day!

My girl names are Sally Raye or Kyla Raye....but I wont be using them. LOL.

My daughter's name is "Sadie James," and we call her Sadie James. My dad passed away about a year before she was born, and we wanted to honor him in some way. His middle name was James. And it just so happen that my husband's and brother's middle names are James as well; so James is definitely a family name. We loved the name Sadie (because I use to teach 1st grade-and you know how hard it is to name your baby when you've had students with those names). I never had a Sadie in my class...thank goodness!!! So, Sadie James she became, and it fits her perfectly!!! If we were ever to have another one I like; Avery, Carrington (my husbands hate it), Brynn, Grace, and Abigail.

My daughters are Lily Catherine and Camille Frances. If I do have a 3rd girl, I'm thinking about Marlowe. Heard it about 6 months ago, and it's sticking with me! Not sure about a middle name.

Love this game! We had a really hard time coming up with our daughters name. We just knew we were having a boy (dr. even told us so at an early ultrasound) A few weeks later we were told it was a girl. I had always wanted to name her Annalise, but after saying the name out loud it just didn't seem to fit. We would say lots of names to the belly to see if any of them worked, and one day I said "Logan" and she kicked! That was it for me. It took a little while for my husband to come around, but that's her name! Her middle name is Cropper (My husband's Nanny's maiden name--she passed right before we found out we were pregnant) If we have another girl here are my top choices: Greer, Claire, Hannah, Kendall. I always love to see what people name their babies, and to hear stories of how they came up with their names.

Elaine Welte said...

3 girls... Gretchen Rose, Megan Claire, and Adalyn Pearl- all of their names have the meaning of "Pearl"... it was easy with Gretchen and Megan. It was actually coincidental with them, but once we found out a 3rd baby girl was in the way, I had to incorporate "Pearl" with her too! Unfortunately, their was only one other name with the meaning of Pearl, and we didn't like it, so we just used Pearl as her middle name!

Rachel Werts said...

If I ever have a daughter her name will be Kennedy. It's my maiden name and ever since I was a little girl I've wanted to name my daughter that.

Amelia Rose. My grandmoms middle name was Amelia. My husbands grandmoms name was rose. Can't wait to have a baby girl and name her that!!!

We have an Ellie Beth. Ellie is after my mom whose middle name is Ellen and Beth is after my middle name. Our other daughter is Aryn Reece. My husband's name is Ryan, so, we just mixed up the letters ;) and Reece is my husband's grandfathers name. A lot of the great-grands are named after him. This was fun!

We have a Avery Elizabeth and Lauren Taylor. Lauren is one and other names we pondered were Claire and Mara : )
Love baby names!
Random note--I pretty much make my girls use names I like for their baby dolls ....that way I feel like Ive used more of my favorite names : ) Try it!
Weve got a doll named Clara, Stella and Charlotte so far!
lol

Our daughter's name is Alexa Grace. We thought we'd call her Lexi but she is not a Lexi! Either Lex or Lexa or Alexa! Most people confuse it and call her Alexis or Alexia. In her school of 1000 students she is the only Alexa! Our other names for girls were Lucia, Kennedy, and Piper. Love reading everyone's names! Amy M.

My daughter's name is Autumn Grace. When I was growing up I didn't like my own name because I didn't think it was creative enough. So I vowed to use more unusual names for my daughters. I chose the name Autumn before I even started dating my husband and it was one of the "conditions" that I had before agreeing to get married. She was born eleven years later. She is now ten years old, and I am still head over heals in love with her name. We do use both names even though we aren't Southeners. When I got pregnant again two years ago, I didn't think I could ever love a name as much. But I did, with the name Ruby. To me, it's the perfect name. It's British sounding, she has a built in theme song (the Rolling Stones's Ruby Tuesday) and the name appears in Anne of Green Gables (my favorite book growing up). Some others I thought of were Hope. Juniper, Lily and Saffron with either Caroline or Evangeline for the middle name.

We have a 6 month old named Tatum Jo! My hubby's grandma's name is Jonell and we call her JoJo. His mom's name is Rebecca Jo, and his first name is Joseph. So Tatum Jo it is. My daughters names are Emily Brooke and Ashtyn Brenna. Our oldest daughters name was picked in Disney when we put four names (two he liked and two I liked) on individual napkins face down while in a restaurant and the waitress picked the napkins. First pick was first name and second pick was middle name. For some reason, we had the hardest time agreeing on a name the first time around. Emily was my husbands first pick and Brooke was mine, so it worked out well for us. As far as our youngest, I have loved the name Ashtyn ever since 1985 when I watched the "North and South" miniseries as a teenager. One of the main characters was named Ashton and I thought she was beautiful with her long dark hair and dark eyes (the fact that she was a bit of a....ummm...not a nice girl. Well, I chose to forget that part). Now I have my own dark haired, dark eyed beauty who has a wonderful heart. Brenna means "little Raven" in Gaelic and she was born 10 weeks early, I'm half Scottish and we are Ravens fans, so it fit.

I LOVE picking baby names! Girl names are so much easier, because there are also so many boy names that have moved over to girl names. I had the hardest time picking my son's name! I have always wanted to name my little girl Britton. That's my maiden name and I come from a family of girls so the name isn't going on to the next generation sadly. Unfortunately it does NOT go with my last name at all, which ends in "ton". I've been trying to think of alternatives I could use like Brynn or Britt maybe. Picking names is so hard. I was 8 months pregnant when we finally picked our son's name. I also love Spencer, Genevieve, Amelia, Piper, Sutton, Bennett and Ramsey.

I missed replying last week but our boys names are Trace, Trent and Ty. Our 3rd child was a total surprise! (We planned on a 3rd (and 4th) just not when our second son Trent was only 16 mo when she was born! Pretty sure I would not have had a girl if it was planned;). God had his own plan;). Anyway her name is Lola May. She was named after my husbands grandma who passed away 2 weeks before my husband and his twin brother were born. She was also a nurse, as am I and one of my grandmothers. There were many granddaughters born before our daughter but no one had used the name so we felt very fortunate to be able to use it! If we were to have another (my husband says NO WAY) her name would be Charli Adell. Husbands name is Charly and my middle is Adell. My youngest, Ty, would have been named this.

Well I had SO many girl names, but I don't think we will get to use them..so sad! Girl names were so easy for us. Our top 3...
Brinley
Berkley
McKinley (well Ryan didn't like this, but I love it).
Apparently I like "ley" at the end of names :)
I love that Olivia is a popular name now, but growing up I knew NO Olivia's and could never find a key chain with my name...those were totally cool back then.

We had a hard time when we found out we were having a girl. My husband only wanted a name that he heard of before and somewhat common. To make it harder, since I am Jewish, we are suppose to name them after a family member that passed away. You are suppose to keep the first initial the same. My daughters name is Samantha Michelle. Samantha was easy, after my grandmother Sylvia. We had the hardest time coming up with a middle name that started with M, after my husbands mother who passed away from cancer when my husband was in college. We finally came up with Samantha Michelle and I still love it. My daughter just turned 10! By the way, if she was a boy I loved Scott Michael (same initials)

I love last names as first names for girls. I am no where near having any kids yet, but I love Collins Claire and Palmer Elizabeth. Collins was my mom's maiden name and I was very close to my maternal grandparents growing up. I just like Palmer

I have boys so I have lots of baby girl names I've never gotten the chance to use! I (obviously) like the name Leigh. It's my name, my dad's middle name, my father in law's middle name, etc. Since I've used it as a middle name for one of my boys (spelled Lee), I'd have to change it up. My girl names are: Emma Grace (totally from Friends and it's a family name which I love), Kinsley (see there's that Lee again), Kensington, Brooklyn, Erica, Madison, I could go on!

I love so many of these names! I have three girls with the names:
Gracie Rae (She is a Gracie, not Grace.)
Paige Leanne
Charlotte Rose

I also really like the name Corah, but my husband wasn't feeling it.

I really love this game!!!!!!! For a little girl my husband and I had decided on Aspen MarieNinaLee; however, we have decided to move away from the beloved city we live in and are feeling very nostolgic, so we have changed our girls name to Lacey MarieNinaLee. Again we are really into family names. Lacey is the name of the city we are moving from, obviously. Marie is my mother and I's middle name and my great grandmother and grandma's first name. Nina is my husband's grandma's name and Lee after me.

Other names I really like are:
Celeste Lucille
Cydel Marie
Channing Tatum - Oh wait...lol

Thanks for sharing.
Leanne

I have a Lola Louise named after my Nana and a Lydia Jane. Having another girl in 3 days and she still doesn't have a name! I also have a son, Archer Jeffery. The choices for this girl are Amelia Faith, Halle, Clara or Mae. Such a hard decision.

We have twin girls, Eva Madeline and Rebecca (Becca) Ann. We are expecting our second set of twins in May, boy/girl this time and our girl front runner name is Alexa Kay. Other favorites are Fiona, Natasha, and Isobel. No progress on little brother's name as of yet - your post last week helped but we still aren't sure!

My 6 year old daughter's name is Isabella (Bella) Marie...and she was not named after Bella from the Twilight Series.

Other names I loved....
Paisley
Abigail
Presley
Harper

And that's just what I can remember was on the "short" list. We went to the hospital with 13 names on the short list. We didn't decide on her name until I was in recovery. :)

Our daughters name is Kayla Marie. Marie is my middle name and we were stuck on that and my husband picked Kayla. My last name was McCartney so we originally thought of doing McKayla, but it was so popular, we dropped the Mc. and Kayla is still really popular :( If my son was a girl, it was going to be Emilyn Gracie.

Gracie came from the Ben Folds song 'Gracie girl' such a cute song for a daughter :)

I seriously LOVE this game and am still pretty far off from having kids :) My parents had a "process." The deal was they got to each pick a name for my sister and I.

My dad chose Amanda as my first, after a country song and Mom chose Jae, which is a family name. Quite a few people call me Mandy Jae. My sister is Janci L'Amour. The first is another family name and the middle is my dad's favorite author.

Recently my friends and family have used:

Ainsley Jane
Amaia Dani
Addison Jo
Kinlee Marie
Lyla Grace
Ella Elaine
Kamri RaeLynn
Vivian Kyle

This morning I heard on the radio that there are some people in Switzerland, that you can pay $20,000 that will find a unique name for your baby that no one has ever had before. It takes 12 people and 100 hours of work to come up with a list of 15 names. When I heard that I immediately thought of your blog and this post!

For a girl I've thought of having a name that has Leigh in it somewhere. I just love how it's written. So I've thought of Ryleigh. I also like like Kae or Mae. But now I think masculine names sound cute for girls. Like Blake, Ryan (although if I chose Ryan I'd think of a different spelling) even the names you suggested Channing and Tatum!

We call "Emma Kay" just Emma. It fits her now well. Being a teacher I am a big fan of two names because you rarely have a two namer in the same room!! Love this game!!

I have an Olivia and a Macy Paige.
I love Lyla Rose too! I was a teacher for 9 years, so there really aren't many names that don't remind me of a student I taught. That made coming up with baby names a nightmare. By the time I got to my 4th child this last year, I was out of ideas!

I am long past having children myself, but I do have three adult children and am still happy with the names we chose. Our oldest is Lindsay Rae, second is Sheena Jenice and youngest is Andrew Earl. All of the middle names have a significance. Ray was my fathers name, Jenice is a childhood best friends name and Earl was my father-in-laws name. The one name I always wanted to use, but never had a chance is Brooke. My daughter considered it for her daughter, but was going to use Brooklyn instead....but she had a baby boy (Roman) instead. Always fun to read what other people come up with and the stories behind the name.

My girls' names are Lucy Cate (Cate is husband's grandma's maiden name) and Sadie Nell (Nell is from 5 grandmas and great-grandmas!!) I love, LOVE their names. We also have a boy named Miles William, and we aren't planning on any more. But girl names are my very favorite and I love: Ruby, Maggie, Annie, Emmy, Harper, Hattie, and Molly.

My girl name when pregnant with my first (who was a boy) was Kenley Grace, with my second (which was a boy) was Brynnan Grace, and my third who was a boy was Paycen Grace. Lol. We have since adopted two girls and their names are Avelyn Grace (double name) and Daegan Reece (my mom is Loreece).

I LOVE this game! We have two boys - James and William. Girl names came easily for us but we never got to use them. If James had been a girl his name would've been Sara Catherine (Sara Cate). If Will had been a girl he would've been Anna Cate - his best girl friend is Anna Cate. My favorite girl names now are Madeline Elizabeth, Bowen Cate (Bowen is my mama's last name), and Caroline, . I have LOVED this game.

I love talking about names. We are done having babies, but I still enjoy talking about it! When we were expecting our daughter, we were pretty set that we were going to name her Elyse. My husband is a blue eyed blond and I have dark hair and brown eyes. Our first child, our son has dark brown hair and big brown eyes. My entire pregnancy I imagined "my Elyse" with brown hair and brown eyes. When my daughter was born she had light blond hair and big blue eyes. I loved her the moment I saw her, but told my husband that this baby was not Elyse. I said that "my Elyse has brown hair" To my sweet husband's credit, he went with it. He was probably afraid what his hormonal wife would do if he didn't ;) We named our daughter Caroline. She's definitely a Caroline and I can't imagine her as anything else. And.... Yes my husband does still tease me about this.

My fiance is Norman-Michael and both his brothers also are named something-Michael and we are going to continue that tradition so if we have a son he will be something-Michael but the same pattern will apply to our girls so when we pick a second name for a girl it has to be something we want to use on all girls we have. I have a strong affection for Bailey-Sophia

My oldest is Adelyn Maria. I have loved the name Adelyn for years and Maria is a family middle name. Our second daughter is Giulia (Julia) Margaret. Giulia with a G is the Italian spelling of the name and I want my girls to remember their heritage, same with Maria. Her middle name, Margaret is a family name also. If we have another girl I'd name her Delaney Cate.

Just stumbled on your blog and had to post. I have babies on the brain as my husband and I are starting to think about baby #2. We have a 17 month old daughter named Aria Marie. I knew what her middle name would be the moment we found out we were pregnant with a girl. my best friend passed away in 2011 and her middle name was Marie and I knew that I wanted my daughter to share her middle name. We decided on Aria when we were 8 months along. We had thought Sophia for a while, but decided it was way too popular. Love the name Aria as it is a little different, and it means Melody. I have played violin for 24 years and love that her name is related to music. I'm sure we will struggle with naming any other children we are blessed with, but the girl names I like at the moment are: Avery, Sutton, Parker, Ainsley and Britton.

My two sons are Tripp & Fisher. I have one daughter named Kennedy Lynn. I also LOVE the double name idea. If I find I'm expecting I would probably choose the name Lynlee for a girl and Jett for a boy.

My daughter's are Ryleigh Diane and Teagan Elizabeth. Both middle names are family names (Diane is my mom and Elizabeth was my grandmother) I tried to use unique but not too crazy of names. Ryleigh is 11 and at the time there were not many Riley/Ryleigh/Rylee names.

My daughter is Eden Hope. I've loved that name for close to 10 years, but finally had a girl to use it with in November. I had 1 boy name and 1 girl name I loved and when I mentioned it to my hubby (we were just dating at the time) he loved them too. We had our son first Kanaan (Canaan with a K) Lee (Hubby, my grandma, Hubby's grandpa's middle names). When we got pregnant again Hubby refused to even discuss boy names because "we had used our name and were having a girl" we did have a girl so we were able to use Eden Hope. We usually call her Eden,Eden Hope, Sissy, or Sissy Hope. I also love Zion if we ever have another boy. They all happen to be Bible place names so now I feel like we have to stick with that theme and I don't like any other girl Bible place names.
