10 Years...

On this day ten years ago, this hunk and I said our marriage vows and were officially married!  I'm so thankful I get to do life with this man by my side.  He makes it all a little more fun!  I just looked it up and the anniversary gift for ten years is tin/aluminum or diamond jewelry.  I think Tab and I happily agreed on new living room furniture instead.  :)

This is the ONLY picture I have of Tab with hair.  One year he grew his hair out for a month and after that month he couldn't do it any longer.

Okay...in true cheesy wedding anniversary fun, I'm sharing one of our wedding songs.  Do you guys remember this one??

When God Made You

It's always been a mystery to me
How two hearts can come together
And love can last forever
But now that I have found you, I believe
That a miracle has come
When God sends the perfect one
Now gone are all my questions about why
And I've never been so sure of anything in my life

I wonder what God was thinking
When He created you
I wonder if He knew everything I would need
Because all He made all my dreams come true
When God made you
He must have been thinking about me

I promise that wherever you may go
Wherever life may lead you
With all my heart I'll be there too
From this moment on I want you to know
I'll let nothing come between us
And I will love the ones you love

He made the sun  He made the moon
To harmonize in perfect tune
One can't move without the other
They just have to be together
And that is why I know it's true
You're for me and I'm for you
'Cause my world just can't be right
Without you in my life

He must have heard every prayer I've been praying
Yes, He knew everything I would need
When God made you
When dreams come true
When God made you
He must have been thinking about me

You can listen to the entire song here.
I tried to think of some amazing marriage advice to share but I kept going back to these three things...

#1 Keep Christ at the center-I can't imagine how hard this would be if we weren't both spending time reading our Bible, praying, and seeking His will for our life.
#2 Don't Keep Score-He doesn't need to know you've taken out the trash the last three times.  Just like you don't care to know how long it took him to mow the yard.  :)
#3 Be a Good Forgiver-In marriage you have to forgive and move on. Holding a grudge is going to help no one!  Forgive, ladies!

Please help me add to this list....what's your best marriage advice??

We've made some amazing memories over the last ten years!  Here's to many many more!
Happy 10th Anniversary, Tab!!!  LOVE YOU!!  XOXO

My hubby and I were married 10 years ago too and are headed on our anniversary trip in a week! My advice would be (other than your #1) marry someone you would want to be friends with. Attraction and romance is important, no doubt, but at the lowest points of our marriage it's been the fact that we still just really *like* each other that had helped us get over whatever issues we were having.

Your advice reminds me of 1 Corinthians chapter 13! Mine would be to always trust your spouse, partly just so you will have peace of mind! In day to day life, for me that plays out as me needing to always assume the best of my husband. It saves a lot of headache and heartache to assume he's being honest and kind no matter what he says. (And if he's not, he needs grace and forgiveness, because he's doing his best.). We are almost at our ten year mark, and I wish I had always seen my husband through this perspective. It would have made our first years much more peaceful. God bless you and Tab and your precious family.

Happy Anniversary!! Marriage advice? never stop being his biggest cheerleader! Just like women need to hear how their husband appreciates everything they do at home with the kids, our men need to be lifted up and praised for everything they do- at work and in life!!

Happy Anniversary! We are celebrating 11 years tomorrow! My advice - going to bed angry isn't so bad, sometimes it saves you from saying hurtful things. Take the night and then makeup in the morning. :)

Happy Anniversary!! 10 years is awesome!!
I'm still a "newlywed" so giving a 10 year veteran advice seems silly, but I've been told and try to follow - continue to date each other and pursue each other.
You two are adorable!

Happy Anniversary! My husband and I hit 10 in September, which is crazy! I recently read and article that said "never wake up angry", which totally stuck with me. It's such a crappy and unproductive way to start your day! I like it even better than never go to bed angry. Sometimes it's easier to go to bed angry, but I always let it go by morning.

I probably would have tried for the diamonds! Happy Anniversary! We are celebrating our 29th in September. Advice, forgivness for sure! Always forgive! If you can't, seek biblical counsel.

Happy anniversary!!! Congratulations on 10 years :) We're "newlyweds" - married just over a year but I'm TOTALLY still claiming the title :) That was one of our wedding songs, too! I had picked it out in about....oh, 7th grade? ...and KNEW it would be sung at my wedding when I got married! Your 3 pieces of advice, I've learned in just a year, are so important & true - thanks for the reminder!

Congratulations! This was marriage advice given to us and we live by it: Live in the present, Plan for the future and cherish the past. What that means is to take the time to make memories today. Don't spend all of your time or energy at your job or all of your spare money on your retirement account. Live for today because tomorrow may not come. You still have to plan for the future, because its likely TO come...so don't live like you are dying, but don't take today and its opportunities for granted.

My aunt and uncle shared this advice with us before our wedding and we live by it. They saw the world while they were young. They saved enough for a comfortable retirement, but not a ton, but they have memories to last a life time. They are foodies and ate their way through Europe. They spent thousands if not millions on life experiences, played golf with celebrities at charity events, etc...and at 60 my uncle was diagnosed with throat cancer. He survived, but lost his tastebuds and can't eat anymore. Due to that...he is weak and cannot walk. 20 years later, he is still alive. No money, no saving for later can give him his old life back and he is so thankful that he lived when he could and now just lives a modest life of retirement. So that, is my marriage advice...its life advice. :)

I'm curious what your advice is Shay?! Is it the 72 hour rule? I'm only guessing this bc of your wink face?
