Favorite Things-Summer Moment

Hello Monday!
Today Andrea and I are sharing our favorite summer moment.  We have had some amazing moments this summer...
We went to the beach in Destin, Florida, and had a fabulous family vacation.

We bought a new house and sold our old one.

We celebrated Independence Day at our town's parade with lots of friends.

Ebby Lee got a new summer 'do and she turned 12.  ha!

Tab and I enjoyed a night out with some of our besties.

We took a little trip to Missouri to visit family and Nixon looked super cool the whole time.

We celebrated Tab's birthday football-style.

And these two brothers enjoyed every last minute before we sent Nixon to kindergarten.

But when I thought back to this summer, one moment stood out to me.  This one...
If you read the blog this summer, then you know we moved.  We spent several days with and without movers moving our family of five just a couple miles down the road to a new house.  After several exhausting days of moving (you guys know what I'm talking about!!  Isn't moving a BEATING?) the moment above happened and we felt like it was all worth it.  I still had no clue where ANYTHING was in our house and we might have even "bathed" in the new pool that night.  #wishiwaskidding  We live really close to an area that every once in a while shoots off fireworks.  A new neighbor happened to mention there would be fireworks that night.  We heard them from our house and walked over to watch.  Seriously....it was icing on the cake after an exhausting move and a moment I'll always remember.  Thankfully there were lots of new neighbors watching fireworks too or I might have started sobbing with relief.  hahaha!  It was definitely my favorite moment of the summer.

I can't wait to hear your favorite summer moment!  Link up and join us!

Friday Favorites

Andrea, Narci, and I are hosting another Friday Favorites!  Join us by blogging your faves, linking back, and then add your blog to the link-up!

We survived our first week of school.  Now we all need to CRASH early tonight and sleep until 9:00 a.m. tomorrow morning.  The Slaughters are TIRED!   I thought I'd change it up today and instead of showing you a bunch of random stuff I'm going to share with you some of my favorite products.  I have all kinds of fave products and want to make sure you know about them too.  :)

Today I'm sharing products you'd find in my bathroom:
I shared my favorite make-up products here.  I still use those very same products.  They're all my favorites!  I've heard about a couple other good mascaras.  I think it's time for me to try something new.  Please...I'd love some mascara recommendations!!

Shay blogged about these Bobbi Brown Eye Shadow Sticks a while back.  I gave one a try.  I purchased the Golden Pink.  One word for this stick....EASY!  You just swipe some on your eyes and it's over!  Crazy easy!!

She also shared this Laura Geller bronzer.  I've been using it as a blush/bronzer and it gives me the perfect amount of color!  I will say that a little goes a long way...trust me!

Last year in the fall I began using Rodan + Fields Reverse regimen to get rid of all those dark spots I got over the summer.  I was amazed at how much my face brightened up!  I've ordered my new Reverse and am anxiously awaiting it to arrive so I can start this regimen again.

If you have dark spots or sun spots and would like to tackle those with R + F, please shoot me an e-mail!  alittlebitofeverything83@yahoo.com.  I'd LOVE to help you with your skin care needs.

Maybe dark spots aren't your struggle?  No matter what skin issues you have, R +F has something that can help!  Again...please e-mail to learn more!  This month if you sign up as a Preferred Customer, you'll receive a $25 gift card to a store of your choice.  New consultants who sign up on my team can receive as much as $200 to go towards their new business kit.

Every time I need new shampoo or conditioner you can bet that I try something new.  I was at Kroger last week and remembered I needed new shampoo and conditioner, so I tried this John Frieda Beach Blonde shampoo and conditioner.

After washing my hair, I use this leave-in product and let it air dry for a while.

This wet brush that I read about from some other blogger a year or two ago is a lifesaver for both me and Ebby Lee.
I use Moroccanoil on my hair daily after styling.

If I curl my hair, then I add this glossing cream to the curls.

If I'm not washing my hair, then I use this Batiste Dry Shampoo.  I'm a fan of dry shampoo.  Pretty much any and every kind, but this is my very favorite.

A friend (wanna take a guess who) gave me some Sweet Cinnamon Pumpkin Bath and Body Works a couple years ago in the fall and I was hooked.  Definitely my favorite fall body scent.

I shared my favorite nail polishes here.  Looking forward to pulling out the darker fall colors ASAP!

Don't forget on Monday, August 31st, Andrea and I are hosting a Favorite Things Party and sharing our FAVORITE summer moment. Here is the list for the other party dates.  We'd love for you to join us!

Have a GREAT weekend, Ladies!!  XOXO

My Favorite Necklace

I was doing a little inventory in my closet.  Getting rid of some things.  Mentally noting some things I should be on the lookout for when I came across my Rebel Pendant Necklace.

I started thinking about how much I wear that necklace and a blog post was born.  ha!  It's my go-to necklace.  It goes with everything!  A tee?  A dress?  A vest?  A jacket?  A button-up?  Seriously...if you're in the market for one long pendant necklace, this is it!  It comes in rose gold, gold, and silver and it will go with EVERYTHING.  Here's some proof....

The most versatile necklace EVER!!

If you have it, please comment and let us know what you think about this necklace!
Happy Thursday, Girls!!  XOXO

What's Up Wednesday

I'm joining MelShay, and Sheaffer for their What's Up Wednesday link-up!

What we're eating this week:

Apparently, it's TACO WEEK in the Slaughter House!

Monday:  Back-to-School and back to after school activities.  I threw a brisket in the slow cooker and we had Crunchy Brisket Tacos for dinner. Delish!
Tuesday: Baked fish and veggies...sound boring to me, but my kiddos love this meal.
Wednesday: We're having Italian Sausage Tacos.
Thursday:  Thursday nights are going to be our busiest.  They will always be slow cooker night at our house.  This week it's Crock Pot Chicken Tacos.  Can you tell we love a taco around here?
Friday:  By Friday, we'll all by exhausted and it'll be OUT for dinner.

What I'm Reminiscing About:

The fact that these two sweet little boys started KINDERGARTEN this week!!  AAAAHHHH!!

What I'm Loving:

That I walked two happy kiddos into school on Monday and picked up two happy faces as well!

What We've Been Up To:

Some SLOW mornings.  ha!  We had some late nights and late mornings this summer, so getting back into a routine has been rough this week!

What I'm Dreading:

This is not our garage, but ours looks a little like this!!  I'm dreading digging through the garage to find our fall decorations.

What I'm Working On:

Speaking of that, I have to get all my fall decorations out and spread some fall cheer in the new house.

What I'm Excited About:

Because all the streets of McKinney look like this, right?  haha!  I'm looking forward to COOLER weather!!  Not sure when that will happen, but walks to the park or around the neighborhood are so much better with crisp fall air.

What I'm watching/reading:

I think Raising a Princess has been on this post for the last three months.  But...I'm halfway through it and LOVING it!  #finally  I just started The Last Anniversary in carpool.  Carpool is back, so I should find more time to read.

What I'm Listening To:

I'm getting caught up on Bachelor in Paradise while I type this post.  Oh my goodness!!!   SO many thoughts...

*It looked CRAZY hot this week in paradise.  I noticed multiple times different people wiping their sweaty brows.  #youknowtheydidn'tthinkaboutthatbeforesigningup
*I was SO excited about Nick showing up!!!  I'm not a Joe fan.
*With Joe in mind, I think he's having to take all the blame for the whole Sam/Joe thing.  She should have to take some of the blame, right?

And...don't forget to check out Sheaffer's recaps.  They are the BEST!!

What I'm Wearing:

My selfie skills are lacking!!!  AAHHH!

Top:  Couldn't find anything super similar, but this is a cute floral option.
Necklace:  Exact here.
Sandals:  Exact here.

What I'm Doing This Weekend:

This is how it feels sometimes.  hahahaha!  #notreallythatbad  This weekend is the LAST weekend before college football begins, so we'll be enjoying every last minute as a family of five.

What I'm Looking Forward to Next Month:
I signed up for my first Rodan + Fields convention in September.  I have my childcare all lined up and am excited about a weekend hearing from some amazing leaders.  I'm also super stoked about girl time!

What Else is New:
SO HAPPY to report this girl was FOUND!!  There was a small box hiding under the dining room table.  I started unpacking it and found Ebby Lee's American Girl doll inside!  It was kind of like Christmas morning at our house all over again!

Favorite Back-to-School Tradition:

I started the most random back-to-school tradition.  Someone suggested decorating the front door so when the children get home from school it's a fun surprise.  I did it last year and Ebby Lee thought it was fun.  We hadn't talked about it since then, but on the first day of school this year she said, "Mom, do you remember how you decorated the door?".  These two were stoked to see some streamers and balloons hanging from the front door.

Happy Wednesday, Friends!!

First Day of School

Yesterday was the first day of school here in Texas.  We sent Ebby Lee off to first grade and Nixon to kindergarten.  (Be prepared for picture overload in front of the fireplace...#warning)

This sweet girl was ready for first grade!!

And...Nixon was ready to take on kindergarten!

Sneaky two-year-old snuck in the picture at the last second.  Ebby Lee is so excited about getting to walk Nixon to his class every day.  Granted, he'll probably only want her to for the first two weeks.  haha!  She is taking her big sister job very seriously!!

These three have my heart....yesterday was SO strange for Bowen and I.  We didn't know WHAT to do with our free time!

At this point, Bowen thinks he's going to kindergarten too.

Watch out kinder and 1st grade!!  The Slaughters are ready for you!

Bowen and I met his bestie, Ashby, and some of my mama friends in downtown McKinney for breakfast.  We drowned our sorrows over bacon.  #baconworkseverytime

So blessed to have these sweet mama friends in my life.  We all sent someone to kindergarten or first grade this year and it was nice to enjoy a morning with these girls.  They're the best!

Then this guy and I ran some errands...(and it looks like my shoe is about to fall off...haha) we had to pick up a couple gifts, make a grocery store trip, and head home to unload it all.  Bowen took a nice long nap in my bed while I got lots of stuff done.

While we were doing that, they were doing this...
I got this from Ebby Lee's teacher.  She has the sweetest teacher and we could not be more excited about first grade.

Then I saw this from Nixon's awesome kindergarten teacher...
Can you imagine having an extra second to take pictures for parents when you have twenty-one kindergarteners??  I absolutely LOVED getting to see parts of their day!  And...the kindness of sending these pictures wasn't lost on me!

My view from the carpool line (caught Nix with his eyes closed) but two happy, smiling kiddos hopped in the car!  The day was a success!!  I said, "How was your day?".  They both responded, "GREAT!".

A sweet neighbor dropped this off welcoming us to the neighborhood.  What better day to do that??  I had made brownies for after school and this made the perfect after dinner dessert.  Two desserts in one day is my kind of day!

Ebby Lee had jazz, friends came over to play, and then we had dinner (and dessert) before our bedtime routine began.

*Bath time
*Read books
*Wrestle with Dad
*Brush teeth...isn't that everyone's nightly routine?  :)

The Slaughters had fabulous first days back at school.  Hope you guys did as well!
