Workin' It-Transitioning Your Wardrobe

 Happy Wednesday, Everyone!

Today marks two weeks since Britt's surgery.  I'm PRAYING when we go back tomorrow the doctor says, "She can now EAT!".  I might cry if he denies her food another week.  #imnotevenkidding

Shay and I are WORKIN' IT!  Every month we share a topic and how we WORK at that topic.  We invite you to join us by blogging and adding your blog to our link up at the bottom of the post.  If you've missed any topics, so far this year we've shared...

Today, we're chatting about how we WORK at transitioning our wardrobe from summer to fall.  Here are my top five ideas...

1. Mix it up
This isn't exactly pictured, but right now I do a lot of long sleeve tops with shorts.  Like the one above paired with my denim shorts.  (I wore this to Nixon's football game on Saturday morning.) Or...I'll wear jeans paired with a sleeveless top.  I feel like if you mix the items up a bit...shorts with long sleeves or long pants with a sleeveless top, then it is a great transition.

2. Make it a flat
I also feel like I can pair a plaid shirt with the cuffed jeans, and loafers on left, or ballet flats on right.  A flat or loafer seems like more of a transition shoe rather than a boot or bootie.  Right now, I'd pair this outfit with either shoe and then when the weather is cooler, I'd trade out the shoes for booties.

3. Add a jacket
This comfy cotton dress  can make a smooth transition from summer to fall.  The colors are perfect and in the mornings and evenings I'd just add a jacket.  During the day, the temperatures are warm enough for it to be worn without a jacket.  By adding a little jacket, this outfit goes from summer to fall.  Depending on the weather, you could change out the sandals to a flat or loafer as well.

4.  Keep it Light
In the outfit above, I paired a light short sleeve top with jeans.  It's not too hot, not too cool and is perfect for the weather right now.  You can see all the pieces here...Ruffle Top-Distressed Jeans-Mules.

5 Close the Toe
I definitely don't abide by this rule all the time because #HOT but I think wearing closed toe shoes makes the outfit look much more "fallish".  On those warm fall days, when you're struggling with the heat-if you wear a tank with shorts and closed toe shoes it gives off a more "fall" look.  Top on sale or top in black, denim shorts, and sneakers.

There you have it!  Those are my best tips for transitioning my summer wardrobe to fall.  What about you?  How do you do it?  PLEASE, PLEASE share any tips or tricks you have.  We'd all love to hear them.

Next month, we'll be sharing how we make our homes cozy.  If you missed the link-up this month, please join us next time.

Thanks so much for stopping by, today!  XO

I love that blue dress, so pretty on you. I feel the same way about closed toed shoes, something about them makes shorts feel more fallish, hehe.
