One Room at a Time Challenge-The First Bedroom

Hey!  Hey!

We got another room checked off our to-do list.  I've been meaning to share it forever and by this point Ebby Lee has added her own personal flair.  You'll see what I mean.  Just wait for it.  :)

Our home was built in 1998.  We bought this house about two and a half years ago and pretty much need to update everything.  We'll get to it all eventually and I have no doubts the second we're finished with the last room, it'll be time to start all over.

The bedrooms upstairs are tiny, which doesn't really bother me because I'd prefer the kiddos to be hanging out in common rooms...living room, playroom, etc.  The only kiddo of mine that will go upstairs and play in her room is Ebby Lee.  She plays quietly, she keeps her space super organized and just how she likes it so I'm all good with that.  {And I think she likes having some space where the boys aren't!  haha!}

She will turn nine in just a couple months and we're right in the middle of those learning to become independent days.  There are times when she leaves the house dressed in things I wouldn't put together but she's figuring it all out, so independent, and I'm trying my best to give her the freedom on things like this that don't really matter.  {So when it does matter, I can shut it down. Know what I mean?}  And I should add she did her own high ponytail yesterday that looked AMAZING!  She's growing up!  And I'm so proud of this girl.

This was what the bedroom looked like when we took our first peek at the house...

See what I mean?  Teeny tiny!

When we rearranged the kiddos' upstairs, we did it with every intention we'd have a boy room/girl room and then a playroom.  But at this point, Britt is sleeping good in the crib in the guest bedroom so I'm not rocking that boat.

This is Ebby Lee's door.  :)  #herdecoratingflair

This picture is kind of dark but when I had the blinds open it was too bright.  Out of my kiddos, Ebby Lee is my NEAT ONE!  I walked upstairs yesterday to find her room like this.  I didn't have to pick up a thing.  We got her bunk beds because our kiddos very often all bunk up in the same room.  Typically Ebby Lee and Bowen both sleep on the top-feet to feet and Nixon sleeps on the bottom bunk.

She plays school all the time so the dry erase board and chalk board are very important features in this room of hers.

She wanted the banner to say, "E and B" for "Ebby Lee and Britt".

I think it's hard to teach kids how to make their bed and it look good anyway, but a bunk bed takes it to a whole new level.

Most of her bedding and furniture came from Pottery Barn, along with this canvas.  I also got some pieces from Target.

And the puffy flowers on the wall are all from Hobby Lobby.

I love the way it turned out, but probably what I love even more is how she's made it her own.  This room does exactly what a bedroom should do-it showcases everything that is Ebby Lee.  It's girly, fun, and sweet. I love that!

To see other rooms we've completed...

Our plan is to complete a few things in the boy room next.  I'll keep you posted.  :)

Look into Beddy Beds. They zip up and make it easy on a bunk bed. My son had one for years. They have nice colors and soft insides.

It’s so pretty and perfectly girly. With bunk beds, you should check out beddys beds. Zippered, cute bedding that makes making beds a breeze :)

I love that you're sharing these room pics. We moved two years ago and the kids' bedrooms are smaller and we're still trying to figure out the best functionality. You've given me some great ideas!

My daughter played school all day every day too-complete with an imaginary PE class she made her baby brother attend. 😂. She was a Kindergarten teacher till her first baby and now she uses all that knowledge to help her boys with their school work. Love the girls’ room- it just is darling and so bright and cheerful. Thanks for sharing. 💜

Looks great! I was wondering what color the paint is? We are getting ready to do our girls room over and are looking for a yellow paint color!

My oldest son is also 9 -- I can totally empathize with their outfits. It is downright painful to let him walk out of the house some days.
