Tuesday Talk-Bible Study Help

Hey Friends!

Happy Tuesday!

The weather has cooled off a bit this week and we're so very thankful.  It feels like FALL here in Texas.

It's the third Tuesday of the month so Ashley and I are TALKING today.  We'd love for you to join us.  :)

We've been chatting all year long.  In case you missed any, we've talked...

We've covered a HOT, RANDOM MESS of topics.

Today, I'm really hoping for your input.  I know this can be a bit of a private subject, but Tab and I have been trying to figure out how to help our older kiddos with establishing their own quiet time.  In college, I remember seeing those friends who clearly had a very well established quiet time routine long before being out on their own.  They didn't waver in their commitment even in college with late nights and early wake-ups.  I'd love to instill that in my children as well.

Here are my questions...

*Do you do this with them or have them do it alone?

*Do you encourage them to do it at night?  Morning?  After school?

*Do you guys have any great studies you recommend doing with kiddos ages 7-9?

I'd love for us all to do something on our own but get together a few times a week to discuss.  So far we've always done it together...with Bowen and even Britt.  (My big kids both have devotionals but not any sort of study.)  It's distracting and we tend to water it down so Bowen understands what we're talking about.

I know each kiddo is different, but I'd love to hear what has worked for you in the past.  (Or maybe what's working right now.)

Again, I'd love ANYTHING you have to offer!  (And maybe a few other readers would as well.)

Thanks in advance, ladies!  Please add your blog to the link-up to join the fun!

Saturday's Coming

Are you a football fan?  If so, do you have a favorite team?

Here in our house we watch a lot of football.  We cheer for all the Big 12 teams, our alma mater-Arkansas State, and if you're Tab you'll watch practically ANY game that's on.  I'm adding a new favorite to this list...The University of Iowa.

I think I've mentioned before that I like football, but I'm an even bigger fan of College Game Day on ESPN Saturday mornings.  It's a pre-game broadcast show that's live in a big college match-up town each week.  They talk all kinds of stats but they also share some heartfelt stories.  A few weeks ago, the kiddos and I were watching and they shared the story about the new tradition at the University of Iowa.  After the first quarter of the game, the fans all turn and wave at the children and families' watching from The Children's Hospital.  If you haven't seen it, you need to go watch this segment.

I was bawling in my coffee and I looked over at Ebby Lee and she was doing the same thing (just minus the coffee).   What a story!  And what a way for those families to feel some Hawkeye love.

The seventeen-year-old in the video, Daxon, really touched my heart.  Can you imagine being in a hospital room slowly checking off the days and just not having much to look forward to?  All week long he has his mind set on-Saturday coming.  He looks forward to this wave from the Iowa faithful during Hawkeye home games on Saturdays.

It immediately made me think of these verses...

"Since everything here today might well be gone tomorrow, do you see how essential it is to live a holy life? Daily expect the Day of God, eager for its arrival. The galaxies will burn up and the elements melt down that day—but we’ll hardly notice. We’ll be looking the other way, ready for the promised new heavens and the promised new earth, all landscaped with righteousness."  2 Peter 3:11-13 (The MSG)

As Christians we're supposed to be living our lives with eternity in the forefront of our minds.  Sometimes with the busyness of everyday life, all the sports' practices, and all the laundry, I forget to do that.  So I'm speaking to myself just as much (if not more) as I am to you.  :)

I hope we can all be encouraged today to do just that...remember heaven's coming.

And maybe this weekend we can all cheer just a bit for those Hawkeyes.  They definitely gained a little piece of my heart.

Thanks for letting me share with you today.

Friday Favorites

Hey Friends!

I hope you had a great week.  I'm not sure why this happens but short weeks tend to have me drowning and craving the weekend even more than a five day week.  Why is that?!  My kiddos were out of school on Monday and that just threw us off for the whole week.  So we're stoked that Friday is HERE!

Today, Narci, Andrea, and I are sharing our FAVORITES with you.  We invite you to join us each and every Friday to do the same.  Blog some favorites and link-up to join!

I have a little look at what's been happening around here...

There is an amazing flea market about one and a half hours away.  They have EVERYTHING you can think of...new things, old things, used things, etc.  It's in the small town of Canton, Texas.  It's fun to go any time but the fall is the BEST time.  Shay and I decided it'd be fun to load up these kiddos and head out for a day in Canton.  I can't brag on those five kiddos enough.  They were AMAZING!  We spent several hours walking around, shopping, taking it all in.  We ate and we shopped some more before it was time to drive back to McKinney.  We never once had a melt down.  Not once!  A day in Canton is hands down a FAVORITE always.  :)

Want to know what I bought in Canton?  Nothing but holiday gear for Britt.  I'd mentioned on the drive that she didn't really have anything "Halloween" to wear.  Well, we took care of that and also scored a couple things like the outfit above that can be maybe "Halloween" or just cute.  ;)  These two joined me at the gym and took the cutest picture on our way inside.

My friend, Amanda, celebrated her birthday last week and several of us went out to celebrate!  You guys need to check out this spot in Frisco.  Have you heard of Eight 11?  It's an outdoor wine bar with some delicious food.  We had a cheese board, the most delicious truffle potato chips, and yummy pizzas.  (And great girl talk as well!)  ;)

Last Friday, we met up with the Shulls for a trip to our local pumpkin patch.  They have pony rides, a petting zoo, bounce houses, a hayride, and pumpkins, of course.  It's right off a busy street so it doesn't really feel like the country BUT the short five minute drive to get there is amazing.  Bowen enjoyed his little ride with Princess.

Our crew enjoyed a nice cozy hot hayride.  haha!

We met up again later that evening for dinner on the square before the McKinney Boyd Homecoming Game!  And please take a minute to see Ashby's pose.  I mean...she has some skills!  It was a great Friday.  Pumpkin patch, the square, and Friday night lights...absolutely perfect!

Saturday-Tab's mom and step-dad were in town to watch Nixon's flag football game.  Afterwards we went to the square to eat lunch and do a little shopping.  We stumbled upon a few festivities happening and checked those out.

On Monday evening, Bowen and Ashby went to a cute little pumpkin patch birthday party.  Here they are posing with the birthday girls baby sister.  I was afraid it was gonna be HOT, but the sun went down and the weather was perfect.

These sweet girls turned five and Bowen was excited to celebrate with them!

I shared "A Little Bit of Everything" about these cuties on Tuesday.  You can see it here.

We went to the fair on Tuesday and had the BEST time.  You can read all about it here!  Someone asked about my sweater...it's pretty thin so perfect for fall in Texas.  :)

If you can't tell...we're doing our best to FALL-HARD!  Pumpkin patch, football game, fair, and just more fun to be had!

Thank you so much for stopping by today!  Have a GREAT weekend!
