Bowen Graduates

On Thursday, May 17th, Bowen Hency Slaughter graduated pre-k.

I'm not certain, but I think I'll look back on this day as one I'll remember the sweet, simple, and great day kind of way.  I sure don't want to forget it so I thought I'd share it with all of you.  :)

This girly and I got to the sanctuary early to save some seats.  She was looking summer ready in her Lilly Pulitzer {inspired by Southern Charm, of course}.  She had her hair in a cute bow and fun little jellies on and by the time Tab arrived the bow was MIA and we were down one shoe.

The graduates marched in wearing shirts they'd painted themselves.  The theme was, "We Are All God's Masterpiece".  So it was absolutely perfect!

The graduates all sit in the center rows.

Pastor Sam kicked off the ceremony and the festivities began...

They had a cute little video asking each graduate what they want to be when they grow up.  Bowen told me about the video earlier in the week and when I asked him what he said, "He forgot".  I had no clue what was gonna be up on that screen.  :)

They sang a couple songs.

They played slow, sappy music to mess with my emotions.  haha!  Just kidding.  But it totally happened!

And then just like that...he graduated.

After the graduation, we went back to his classroom for a little cookie/lemonade reception.  He was so glad M got to come!

Crazy to think this duo will be hitting the halls of elementary school in the fall.  Watch out, kindergarten!  Here they come!

We're so so proud of this guy!

Right after this picture, we told Bowen and Ashby instead of staying at school the rest of the day, we were gonna take them out to eat lunch and swim all afternoon.

Congrats, Graduates!

We left school, put on our suits, Favored us some lunch, and spent the rest of the day pool side.

Everyone was EXCITED!!

We swam, played, ate, and just had the best afternoon.  I'm telling you...I'll look back on May 17th and always remember it as a great day.

We ended the afternoon with popsicles before picking up the big kiddos from school.

And since we'd been outside all day the two littles and I were so tired.  We were showered and ready for bed before 6:00.  hahaha!  Early bedtimes were calling!

I must tell you I will miss this boy like CRAZY!  But there's such a difference between a spring birthday and a fall birthday kiddo.  It might have something to do with being the third as well, but he's so ready for kindergarten.  I'll be sad to see him go for my mama-sake, but for him, I'm so excited and know he will have a BLAST!

In the mean time, I'm gonna snuggle him as much as he'll let me and I plan on continuing that ALL SUMMER LONG.  Squeeze those babies a little harder today, Mamas.  Ready or not, they'll grow up.

Friday Favorites

It's good to see you.  :)

I'm sharing some of my FAVORITES from the week along with my girls, Narci and Andrea.  We'd love for you to join us.  Simply grab our graphic, link up with us, and then add your blog to the link-up!

Here we go...

First up, our FAVORITE from the week was celebrating Britt's GOTCHA DAY!  It's so hard to believe it's been just a year but this past Tuesday was one year since Britt was placed in our arms for the first time.  I had big plans of us having this special dinner and just a few days before I scratched that idea.  I decided Britt would rather play outside all evening than have a nice dinner out.  So that's just what we did.  And I made these for dessert!  YUM!

I feel like this book is EVERYWHERE right now?  Everybody Always by Bob Goff.  Have you seen it?  Heard of it?  I just finished reading it this week and totally get all the hype now.  The author, Bob Goff, has one consistent theme throughout this book...if we want to look like Jesus, we should be loving EVERYBODY, ALWAYS.  He shares the most inspiring stories of seeing this play out in his life and the lives of others.  My very favorite part was toward the end of the book he shares a super detailed story about some witch doctors in guys, read to the end!  It's so good!

Have you guys tried Shay's Sloppy Joe Stuffed Spuds?  If not, you're missing out!  I made these for my family this past week and they were a HUGE hit!  I used sweet potatoes for Tab and I to stuff and the kiddos all had regular potatoes.  I set out all the toppings {cheese, sour cream, bacon} and let them stuff them on their own.  {They always take a little more ownership in their meal if they make their plate, make their taco, stuff their potato, etc.}  I forgot to take a picture and trust me, ours didn't look this delicious.  But, they tasted GREAT!  For an easy weeknight meal, give it a try!  One of our FAVORITES this week!

Earlier this week I shared my cutest two-year-old model in a variety of swimwear.  {If you're in the market for some cute baby swimwear, look no further.}  I didn't mention this suit, but it's worth a mention for two reasons...1. Super cute!  2. And it has snaps so you don't have to take the entire suit off to change a diaper!  I'm gonna say that again.  It SNAPS.  I don't think in my nine years as a mom, I've ever experienced a one piece swim suit that snaps.  But, it's GENIUS!

The Bachelor franchise is like a bad habit I cannot quit!  I'm looking forward to the new season!  Memorial Day night the new Bachelorette begins!  My girl, Sheaffer, will have ALL the recaps {and she's hilarious}.  You won't want to miss them!

I've been thinking back on a FAVORITE vacation a lot lately.

You can read Part 1Part 2, Part 3, and Part 4.

If you've been thinking about a 2019 Disney Cruise, NOW is the time to book.  Shay and I have been working on Disney Cruises departing now through September 2019.  We'd love to help you and your family plan a magical vacation.  Please e-mail us to learn more at  Don't forget Mix and Match Travel has a MAY GIVEAWAY going on now...

At the end of the month, we'll be drawing one big winner!

That's all I have for today, friends!

Have a GREAT weekend!

Backyard Help

I think I've mentioned before that some of my very best recommendations come directly from readers like YOU.  I am so thankful when you guys take time out of your day, not only to read this blog, but also to comment and share something with me.  :)

With that in mind, I'm hoping that several of you fabulous backyard designers and landscapers are reading today.  Haha!  I feel pretty confident in pulling a room together with things I like, but you guys...when it comes to the backyard I'm NO HELP!  Our backyard right now is such a hodge podge of random that I'm hoping you guys will take a peek and then tell me what to do, offer a suggestion, or possibly even send me the exact link to what I need to purchase.  #notevenkidding

Without further ado....the random that is our backyard right now.  Please know....I did nothing to get ready to take these pictures so you're seeing the REAL life backyard.

Keep in mind, I'd prefer it to look like you're stepping into the pages of the Outdoor Pottery Barn catalog.  (Photo courtesy of Pottery Barn).

These are my main questions in this area.

*Due to the sun, our backyard gets a ton of direct sunlight especially in the evening so should we add some sort of shade?

*I have navy/white chair cushions for the table, but should I add a rug?

*Should we add more seating to that open area in the right?  It gets shade pretty early on because of the trees.  I have four grey adirondack chairs that could be placed back there?

*Should that front area with the planter have something larger?  Or should all the planters match?

I'm starting to think this should have been a three-part-help-Erika's-backyard post.  :)  I have SO many questions!

 My concerns in this location...

*What about those curtains?  The space is so shallow there's no closing them or they'd be practically in your face.  Do you have any ideas for something else that would provide shade?  What about a big, HUGE umbrella?  The kind that tilts?

*This area gets ALL THE SUN!  Everything in this spot, tends to fade because of ALL THE SUN.  Any ideas???

*It's pretty shallow and eventually we'll probably build something but I'm looking for inexpensive ways to help us utilize the space more this summer.

Main concerns...

*Those are the adirondack chairs I mentioned above.  I have two more.  Should we move those to that back corner of the yard?

*Any ideas on what to do with this area by the grill that is a shallow space and happens to get a ton of sun in the evening?

*Where's your favorite place to get lounge chair cushions?

Ladies...HELP!!  :)  Did I overwhelm you with that?  Our backyard is a hot, random mess so I guess it totally goes with the blog theme.  But I'd love to change that ASAP.  Please share any helpful ideas you have.  I'd greatly appreciate it!  And remember direct links are appreciated!  haha!

Have a GREAT day!
